Watkins GFCI 50 Amp Subpanel for Convertible Spas PN 301756

Converting 110/115V Spas TO 220/230V Spas

Brands: HotSpring, Tiger River

For Hot Spring & Tiger River spas that are Standard 110/115V that are CONVERTING to 220/230V.

This complete sub panel comes with two GFCI breakers, consisting of one (1) 20amp (single pole single throw), and one (1) 30amp (double pole double throw).
This sub panel is used to CONVERT FROM a 110/115 volt Hot Spring or Tiger River spa (standard) TO A 220/230 volt system. All Hot Spring and Tiger River spas, manufactured after 1996 have an IQ control box and can be converted to 220/230 volts. Those models were shipped from factory with a power cord. If you're converting your spa to a 220/230 volt installation, then the power cord is removed and the spa is hard wired from this subpanel into the control panel in the spa. The wiring diagram for your spa model is on the backside of the IQ control box front cover. Converting your spa to a 220 volt installation should be done by a qualified electrician and done to code even if you don't pull a permit. A 220/230 volt powered Hot Spring or Tiger River spa will heat about 8 degrees an hour (versus 2 degrees an hour at 110/115V) and the heater will stay on during the operation of the jet pump. Because all Hot Springs and Tiger River spas are so well insulated, typically there is not a need to convert them to 230volts. If your spa is used for entertaining with the jet pump running hours at a time, or your spa is located in a freezing and windy climate, then a 230 volt installation is preferred.

How to Find your Spa Serial Number?

If emailing or calling us about your spa, it is helpful to know your Spa’s Serial Number. Typically, your spa serial number decal will be inside the hot tub equipment compartment, attached to the spa shell wall. It will say the Manufacture Name (Watkins), the Model Name, and then a Serial Number.  If you have any questions of how to locate the spa SN, or how to determine information of your spa by its SN, please email us.
